What is the HERMES Critical Care Group ?

Our aim is to conduct multi-center, clinically relevant Critical Care research. Multi-center studies yield more reliable data in a shorter time period and will have more and broader relevance to the international field of Intensive Care medicine. Most important, however, as also phrased by others: "Collaboration is a virtue in itself without expecting any other reward"

We stimulate contacts between researchers and research groups in the Netherlands and abroad.

Membership of HERMES is open to all those active in Critical Care Medicine in the Netherlands who are dedicated to the advancement in care and improvement in outcomes of the critically ill through excellence in clinical research. HERMES can support and facilitate research by others.
We can offer: logistical, methodological, statistical, epidemiological support and help design studies and protocols, and help to communicate with ethical committees and in addition acquiring Grants. We can also assist preparing, writing, and reviewing manuscripts and presentations.

• research that involves HERMES or single members of HERMES will be co-authored by all participants related to this research

• Results from research within the HERMES Critical Care Group can only be submitted for publication after review by at least 2 senior members

• Research can only be conducted with consent of all senior HERMES researchers

HERMES needs not to initiate all research; also research initiatives by industries or non-HERMES researchers can be supported.

HERMES can advise others in ways to conduct research; where to conduct this research, how to do this and in which way results can be presented.
